Three Union County Schools recognized as America’s Healthiest Schools

Six local schools have been recognized nationally as one of America’s Healthiest Schools.

Alliance for a Healthier Generation recently announced America’s Healthiest Schools for the 2022-23 school year, which included 781 schools across 36 states, according to a news release.

This recognition honors schools for their achievements in advancing the physical, mental, and social-emotional health of students, staff, and families.

Three schools from Union County Public Schools and three schools from Webster County Schools were named to the list.

In Union County, the three schools included Sturgis Elementary, Uniontown Elementary, and Union County High School.

In Webster County, the three schools recognized were Sebree Elementary, Webster County Middle School, and Webster County High School.

Schools are recognized for implementing best practices in up to nine topic areas, based on criteria in Healthier Generation’s Thriving Schools Integrated Assessment.

America’s Healthiest Schools is one of the country’s longest-running nationwide recognition programs honoring schools for achievements in supporting the whole health needs of students and school staff, according to a press release.
