Small Town, Big Pride: Henderson KY Pride Celebrates Record Growth Ahead of Saturday’s Festival

HENDERSON, KY — Henderson KY Pride is preparing for its largest and most ambitious celebration yet as the organization welcomes the community to Pride ’26 on Saturday, June 27, in downtown Henderson.

Now gearing up for its third annual celebration, Henderson KY Pride has experienced remarkable growth since its inaugural event in 2024.

What began as a first-of-its-kind community celebration, that started from a class project, has grown into one of the largest pride celebrations in Western KY, bringing together local businesses, nonprofit organizations, entertainers, community leaders, and families from across the region, according to a news release.

This year’s celebration will feature more than 85 vendors, over 30 performers, an expanded event footprint, a larger beer garden, food trucks, live music, family-friendly activities, community resources, and an official after-party following the festival.

Headlining the evening festivities is Jaida Essence Hall, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 12 and one of the most recognized drag performers in the country.

The growth comes at a time when many LGBTQIA+ organizations across the nation are facing reduced sponsorships, funding challenges, and declining community support.

In contrast, Henderson KY Pride has experienced record community investment, with more sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and community partners supporting this year’s celebration than ever before.

“The support we’ve received this year has been absolutely incredible,” said Cooper Beck, Founder and Executive Director of Henderson KY Pride. “Every sponsor, volunteer, vendor, and attendee helps make this event possible. Together we have been able to achieve things that many of us never thought we’d see in our town. This kind of support sends a powerful message that Henderson is a community where people from all walks of life can come together and be celebrated for who they are.”

In addition to entertainment and vendors, organizers have made attendee comfort and safety a priority. The festival will feature 15 free hydration stations, more than 3,000 complimentary bottled waters, shaded gathering spaces, a dedicated Hospitality Center, accessible amenities, and support from local public safety agencies throughout the event.

Since its founding, Henderson KY Pride has expanded beyond its annual festival to offer year-round visibility for  LGBTQIA+ individuals, families, and allies throughout Henderson and surrounding counties.

Pride ’26 will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in Central Park and Main Street. Admission is free and open to the public.
