Marion, KY (Crittenden County) – The Kentucky State Police is investigating a single-vehicle, injury-collision that occurred on US 60 East, approximately seven miles north of Marion Thursday morning around 11:00.
According to police, a preliminary investigation revealed that 41 year old Angela R. Maples, of Marion, was driving a Mercury Tracer westbound on US 60 East when she lost control of the vehicle in a curve on the wet roadway. Police say the vehicle traveled across the eastbound lane, exited the road, traveled down an earth embankment and crashed into a tree.
State Police indicate Maples was not injured, but her front passenger, 40 year old Valina Yates of Marion, was transported by ambulance to Crittenden Health Systems for treatment. Yates’ three year old daughter, Myra Yates, was reportedly riding in the backseat and was not injured in the wreck. Police say both adults were wearing seatbelts, and the child was restrained in a child safety seat.
KSP is continuing to investigate the collision.
The Mattoon Community Volunteer Fire Department, Crittenden County EMS, and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet assisted at the scene.
