The Public Service Commission is holding a public hearing at 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Hopkins County Government Center, located at 56 North Main Street in Madisonville.
LGE/KU is requesting to retire four coal-fired power plants and three natural gas units and replace the systems at a cost of $2.09 billion. Several local officials, including Union County Judge-Executive Adam O’Nan said they are concerned about how this would affect consumer rates and how reliable the systems would be. O’Nan requested in a video posted on the Union County Judge-Executive’s Facebook page for people to attend the hearing.
