WMSK Privacy Policy

WMSK 101.3 FM (“WMSK,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the Henson Media and the WMSK mobile application (the “App”) handles information when you listen to WMSK, receive notifications, view local content, submit information to the station, or use other App features.

Information You Provide

The App does not require an account. You may choose to provide information when using certain features:

  • Birthday and anniversary submissions: names, birthdate or wedding date, whether an age may be announced, and a contact phone number. This information is transmitted securely to WMSK through our website and is used to process the requested on-air announcement.
  • Messages and requests: information you choose to include when contacting WMSK, sending a song request through your email application, or completing a form on the WMSK website.

Birthday and anniversary contact information is not displayed publicly inside the App. Please do not submit information about a child unless you are the child’s parent or legal guardian or otherwise have permission to do so.

Notifications and OneSignal

With your permission, the App uses OneSignal to deliver station alerts and push notifications. OneSignal may process a push-notification token, mobile device or account identifiers, IP address, device type, operating-system version, network information, language, time zone, App session information, notification delivery information, and notification interactions. OneSignal may infer an approximate location from an IP address.

WMSK does not enable OneSignal to receive the device’s precise GPS location. You can disable notifications at any time in the iPhone Settings app. For additional information, review the OneSignal Privacy Policy.

Weather Information

The App does not request or collect your device’s location for weather. It requests National Weather Service information using fixed coordinates for the Morganfield and Union County, Kentucky area. The National Weather Service receives ordinary internet-request information, such as an IP address, when providing this content.

Streaming, News, On-Demand Audio, and Other Content

To provide live audio, recently played songs, album artwork, On-Demand programs, news, sports video, weather, and other content, the App communicates with WMSK’s website and service providers. These providers may receive ordinary technical information needed to deliver a request, including an IP address, device or browser information, request time, and the content requested.

Service providers and linked services may include WMSK’s WordPress website, SecureNet Systems, OneSignal, the National Weather Service, YouTube, Facebook, Apple Music, and advertiser websites. When you open a third-party website or app, that service’s own privacy policy and terms apply.

Local Information Stored on Your Device

The App stores certain settings locally on your device, such as program reminders and cached homepage banner information. Local notifications for program reminders are scheduled on your device. You can remove reminders within the App, and deleting the App removes its locally stored information.

Advertising

The App displays WMSK-managed sponsor banners. Tapping a banner opens the destination selected by the advertiser. WMSK does not currently use the App to conduct cross-app behavioral advertising, does not request Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission, and does not sell personal information collected through the App. An advertiser’s website may collect information under its own privacy policy after you open it.

How We Use Information

We use information to operate App features; stream WMSK programming; deliver notifications; provide news, weather, sports, and On-Demand content; process birthday and anniversary submissions; respond to requests; maintain security; diagnose technical issues; and understand basic notification and App performance.

Information Sharing

We may share information with service providers that process it on our behalf to operate the App and WMSK website. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell personal information submitted through the App.

Data Retention

WMSK retains submitted information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was provided, station recordkeeping, security, and legal obligations. Service providers may retain information according to their own policies and agreements with WMSK.

Your Choices

  • Disable push notifications in iPhone Settings.
  • Remove program reminders within the App.
  • Choose not to submit optional forms or contact information.
  • Contact WMSK to ask about, correct, or request deletion of information you submitted directly to the station, subject to applicable legal and recordkeeping requirements.

Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. WMSK does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through the App. A parent or guardian should make any birthday submission involving a child.

Security

WMSK uses reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information. However, no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App or our practices change. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the effective date.
