Pre-trial conference continued in case against two Sturgis women charged with criminal abuse of child

Two Sturgis women accused of abusing a special needs child appeared for a pre-trial conference in Union County Circuit Court on Monday but the hearing was continued. Circuit Court Judge Rene’ Williams continued the pre-trial conference of Marsha and Suzanna Gray to 9:00 a.m. on December 12, 2016.

The grand jury indicted 41 year old Marsha Gray and her daughter, 24 year old Suzanna Gray, in September for first degree criminal abuse – child 12 or under.

The charges stem from a video posted on Facebook that surfaced in July 2016 and was sent to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, WMSK News and other media outlets. The video showed the two women allegedly abusing an 11 year old special needs child inside their Sturgis home. On July 20th, Union County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Thomas told WMSK News deputies and Child Social Services responded to the Sturgis residence of Marsha Gray and arrested the two women after gathering information and an investigation into the incident.
