Paducah teenager pleads not guilty to assaulting infant

PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) — A 19-year-old Paducah man accused of injuring an infant has pleaded not guilty to a charge of first-degree assault.

The Paducah Sun (http://bit.ly/2fYp6gh ) reports that 19-year-old Kelton Ragan was arrested Monday after Kentucky State Police received a call from Baptist Health Paducah that a 3-month-old child had a fractured femur and possibly an old rib injury. Ragan entered his plea Tuesday.

A police report says Ragan told authorities he heard a bone snap after he grabbed the child by the legs and flipped the infant over.

Investigators say such an action put the child at serious risk of death.
