Henderson, Ky. (Aug. 15, 2024) – Crews working on Section 1 of the I-69 Ohio River Crossing have several activities underway along the corridor, including building the new exit ramp from U.S. 41 northbound to Kentucky 351/2nd Street. To accommodate the needed work, a lane closure will be in place along a portion of U.S. 41 northbound for the next several weeks.
Northbound U.S. 41 will be reduced to a single lane from the Audubon Parkway north to Kentucky 351/2nd Street, a nearly 2-mile section of roadway. The closure is scheduled to begin on or after early Monday, Aug. 19 and continue through late November.
The new U.S. 41 North ramps to and from Kentucky 351/2nd Street must be built before the easternmost roundabout closest to Henderson County High School can function as a roundabout. Two of the three roundabouts at the interchange opened to traffic in late July. The third roundabout is expected to open to a single lane of traffic this fall. All three roundabouts are expected to open in final configuration with two lanes of traffic by late this year.
In addition to building the new exit ramp, crews will be installing a permanent median barrier wall, paving U.S. 41 North, widening the roadway to the east, and installing sound wall. The closure will give crews the room they need to safely complete the work.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down, stay alert and watch for the new traffic pattern. Actual dates and anticipated work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
