MPD: Accidental text to a police officer nets arrest of Morganfield teen for trafficking drugs

A drug sting operation in Union County led to the arrest of an 18 year old Morganfield male for trafficking drugs after police say he accidentally sent a text to a local officer wanting to buy a large quantity of drugs.

Morganfield Police Officer Chad Vos reports the drug sting operation was arranged by the local police department and the Union County Sheriff’s Office after a subject accidently sent a text message to a local police officer’s phone wanting to purchase multiple ounces of marijuana.

During the sting operation at Legion Park around 6:00 Wednesday night, Officer Vos says 18 year old Breshod Everhart resisted arrest and fought with officers and attempted to run before being tazed. Even after being detained, Officer Vos indicates Everhart continued to be very combative.

According to authorities, Everhart did sustain minor scratches and lacerations when he fell from being tazed. Everhart was taken to Methodist Hospital Union County where he was treated and then taken to the local jail.

Everhart was charged with Trafficking in Marijuana, Fleeing or Evading Police, Resisting Arrest, three counts of Assault 3rd Degree – Police Officer and Receiving Stolen Property.
