Morganfield teen charged with trafficking marijuana facing additional charges in connection to vehicle thefts

The 18 year old male arrested Wednesday night after authorities say he accidentally sent a text message to a local police office wanting to buy marijuana is facing additional charges.

Morganfield Police Officer Chad Vos reports that evidence from last month’s car thefts was found during Wednesday’s drug sting when Breshod Everhart was found in possession of a check that was stolen from a vehicle on East Waller Street in Morganfield. Officer Vos says Everhart also matches the description of a subject who ran from officers on the night of September 25th when he was seen rummaging through an unlocked pick-up truck.

After interviewing Everhart, Officer Vos says they are in the process of charging him with additional offenses concerning the thefts that occurred from September 23 through September 25th.

Everhart was arrested Wednesday night around 7:00 in Legion Park in Morganfield during a drug sting operation conducted by Morganfield Police and the Union County Sheriff’s Office after Office Vos reported the 18 year old accidentally sent a text message to a local police officer’s phone wanting to purchase multiple ounces of marijuana.

During the sting operation, police indicate Everhart resisted arrest, tried to run from officers and had to be tazed but continued to be very combative.

Everhart was taken into custody and lodged in the Union County Detention Center for Trafficking in Marijuana, Fleeing or Evading Police, Resisting Arrest, three counts of Assault 3rd Degree – Police Officer and Receiving Stolen Property.
