Morganfield City Councilmen select engineering firm for estimated $4.6 million raw waterline project

During a special called meeting Wednesday night, Morganfield City Council unanimously approved Strand and Associates of Lexington as the engineering firm for the raw waterline project.

City Administrator Gary Vetter says a committee chose Strand and Associates to finish up the raw waterline that supplies the water plant in order to keep up with demand. He indicates the raw waterline is about 5 miles and runs from Jim David Meats to the water plant and has an estimated price tag of around 4.6 million dollars.

Vetter says they normally pick their own engineer, but in order to qualify and apply for a U.S.D.A. Rural Development Grant they had to choose an engineering firm with the highest points.

Strand and Associates also built the million gallon water tower for the City of Morganfield that sits on the property of the Earle C. Clements Job Corps, according to Vetter.
