On Friday June 23rd at approximately 10:42PM, the Union County Sheriff’s Office and KSP Post 16 had a Safety Checkpoint at 2091 and the US 60 Bypass. A vehicle driven by a juvenile did not yield at the checkpoint turning onto 2091 toward Morganfield. The Union County Sheriff’s Department attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle led UCSO on a pursuit through Morganfield onto N. Carrier Street where the vehicle struck two parked vehicles and came to a stop. KSP and the Morganfield Police Department responded to the scene to assist. Located inside the vehicle was a quantity of marijuana, digital scales, and other items indicative of drug trafficing. Austin Berry of Henderson was arrested as well as two juveniles. Berry was lodged in the Union County Jail charged with:
Fleeing and Evading Police, 1st Degree(motor vehicle)
Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree (Police Officer)
No Operators License
Trafficking in Marijuana (less than 8oz) 1st Offense
Unlawful Transaction with a Minor, 2nd Degree
Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Insurance, 1st Offense.
