Madisonville Woman Airlifted After Single Vehicle Wreck on Pennyrile Parkway

Crofton, Ky. (July 18, 2016). The Kentucky State Police is investigating a single vehicle, injury collision that occurred on the Pennyrile Parkway, at approximately the 23 mile marker, around 11:50 a.m. Monday.

According to police, preliminary investigation revealed that 24 year old Jordan Downey-Travis, of Madisonville, KY, was operating a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway when she stated that she ran off of the left side of the roadway into the median and overcorrected in an attempt to get back on the travel portion of the road. When she overcorrected, her vehicle reportedly began to slide out of control, crossing both southbound lanes and into the emergency lane. Downey-Travis’s Jeep then hit a very large pot hole in the emergency lane causing her vehicle to begin to flip end over end. Authorities say Downey-Travis was ejected from the vehicle due to not wearing her seatbelt.

Police indicate Downey-Travis was transported via Air Evac Lifeteam to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN for treatment.

KSP is investigating the collision.

The Crofton Fire Department, Hopkinsville Fire/Christian County EMS, Christian County Rescue Squad and the Christian County Sheriff Department assisted at the scene.
