Louisville man jailed in Daviess Co. on several drug-related offenses and stolen gun charge

A traffic stop for speeding in Daviess County led to the arrest of a Louisville man after officers reportedly found numerous illegal prescription drugs and a stolen handgun in his vehicle.

The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says the traffic stop of a vehicle driven by 26 year old Ronald Edward Sand was made around 3:00 a.m. Thursday on the Wendell Ford Expressway at the Pleasant Valley Road Exit Eastbound. They say a K-9 unit was called to the scene and alerted on the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, authorities say they found crystal meth, heroin, marijuana, Xanax, Lortab, Amphetamine salt, Oxycodone and other unknown pills, along with a handgun that had been reported stolen from a Jefferson County Correctional Officer.

Sand was taken into custody and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center for trafficking in controlled substances, possession of controlled substances, possession of a stolen handgun, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, KY DVO violation, possession of a police scanner, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
