KSP Warns Public of Scams

Nortonville, KY (Hopkins County) – Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville have been contacted by multiple concerned citizens about scams.

Currently, we have been made aware of two different scams. The first scam was a call from someone claiming to work for AT&T. They advised the caller if he would send $1000 via eBay cards, his monthly bill would be lower. After sending the payment, he would qualify for other discounts if more eBay cards were sent.

The second scam was similar, but this person claimed to work for Amazon. They requested money to be sent via Google Play cards.

The Kentucky State Police would like to remind everyone to never share your Social Security Number or other personal information online or by phone. Also, legitimate businesses will never ask you to pay with Apple cards, eBay cards, Google Play cards, or any other prepaid card.

To report a possible scam, please contact 888-432-9257 by phone, or fill out a complaint form online at ag.ky.gov
