KSP investigating fatal collision that killed Henderson man

Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Henderson County over the weekend.

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office contacted KSP at approximately 1:18 p.m. Sunday to investigate a potentially fatal collision at the intersection of Kentucky 359 and Grandpa Jones Road.

When troopers arrived at the scene, it was determined that a gray sedan operated by Betty McPherson, 45, of Morganfield, was traveling southbound on Kentucky 359. An ATV operated by Leland Majors, 19, of Henderson, was eastbound on Grandpa Jones Road.

Majors failed to stop at the intersection and entered the path of McPherson. Majors was transported to Deaconess Midtown Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The collision remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Post 16 Trooper J. Newcom.

Trooper Newcom was assisted at the scene by Kentucky State Police,  Corydon Fire Department, Henderson Rescue Squad, Henderson County Sheriff’s Department, AirEvac, and Henderson EMS.
