KSP: Illinois Residents Injured in Rollover Wreck in Lyon County

Kuttawa, Ky. (October 7, 2016) On September 6, 2016, at 1:53 p.m., Troopers from Kentucky State Police post 1 Mayfield were conducting a traffic stop on I-24 at the 46mm on Interstate 24 near Kuttawa, KY when they observed a collision.

Preliminary investigation shows that Emilie Allen, 76, of Bloomingdale, Illinois was operating a tan 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt traveling eastbound in the right-hand lane of Interstate 24. The initial investigation shows that Allen did not observe other vehicles in front of her slowing after they approached and passed the ongoing traffic stop. When Allen finally observed the traffic in front of her slowing she applied her brakes in an attempt to avoid striking the vehicle in front of her. This action caused her vehicle to go into a slide. Allen’s vehicle then exited the roadway and entered the median before rolling over three times and coming to a stop upright on the four tires. The vehicle was facing westbound in the median just prior to the westbound lanes.

Emilie Allen and her passenger Willard V. Allen, 78, of Bloomington, Illinois were both wearing their seat belts and sustained some minor abrasions but refused transport for further medical treatment.

The collision investigation is ongoing by Tpr. Lewie Dodd.

KSP was assisted on scene by the Kuttawa Fire Department and Lyon County EMS,
