Authorities are conducting a death investigation after the body of an 18 year old female was found inside a structure fire in Livingston County.
Around 8:30 Monday night, Kentucky State Police Post 1 in Mayfield reports the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office requested their assistance after the body of Melissa C. Hopkins was found inside a house fire at 730 Holland Road. Hopkins was pronounced dead at the scene by Livingston County Coroner Jeff Armstong. Police say an autopsy is scheduled Wednesday in Louisville.
KSP was assisted at the scene by the Ledbetter, Grand Lakes, Burma, and Smithland Fire Departments, Livingston EMS, Livingston County Coroner’s Office and Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.
