KSP Arrests Two Illinois Men After Pursuit on I-24 in Lyon, Livingston, and Marshall Counties

(Calvert City, KY.) – The Kentucky State Police, Post 1 arrested two Illinois men Saturday afternoon, after a vehicle and foot pursuit that began in Lyon County and ended in Marshall County.

Just after 10:00 Saturday morning, state police say a trooper observed a Dodge Magnum traveling at a high rate of speed at the 48MM on I-24 west. When the trooper turned on the vehicle it failed to yield and increased speed. The driver then led police on a pursuit from the 48MM in Lyon County, through Livingston County, before colliding with a tanker truck at the 26MM in Marshall County near Calvert City, KY. KSP says the vehicle then ran off the roadway into the median.

According to KSP, 28 year old Tyrone D. Roddy, of Champaign, Illinois, and 24 year old Kennon M. Finley, of Champaign, Illinois, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. KSP Troopers, Marshall County Deputies, Calvert City PD Officers, Benton PD Officers, and a U.S. Marshall gave chase and both Roddy and Finley were taken into custody.

During the investigation a bag of marijuana and over $10,000.00 in cash were seized from the vehicle.

Roddy was transported to Marshall County Hospital where he was treated and released for a non-life threatening injury to his right hand.

Tyrone D. Roddy and Kennon M. Finley were both lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.

Roddy is charged with Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree-Motor Vehicle (Class D Felony), Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree-On Foot (Class D Felony), Wanton Endangerment 1st degree (Class D Felony), 10 counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree-Police Officer (Class D Felony), Reckless Driving (Violation), Speeding 26mph or Greater Over Speed Limit (Violation), Improper Lane Usage (Violation), Following Another Vehicle too Closely (Violation), Improper Passing (Violation), Failure to or Improper Signal (Violation), No Operators License (Violation), Failure to Produce Insurance Card (Violation), Trafficking in Marijuana Less Than 8oz (Class A Misdemeanor), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor), and Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Class A Misdemeanor).

Finely is charged with Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree-On Foot (Class D Felony), Trafficking in Marijuana Less Than 8oz (Class A Misdemeanor), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor), Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Class A Misdemeanor), and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree (Class B Misdemeanor).

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP.

The Kentucky State Police were assisted by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Calvert City Police Department, Benton Police Department, U.S Marshall Service, the Kentucky Transportation Department, Marshall County Ambulance Service, and the Calvert City Fire Department.
