Nortonville, Ky. – On Thursday, December 10, 2020, the Kentucky State Police Professional Association (KSPPA) Chapter 2 conducted its 24th annual “Shop with a Trooper” (S.W.A.T.) program.  This program provides children with items of need during the Christmas season.

Although SWAT looked a little different this year, we were still able to provide 19 families with pizza from Papa John’s of Madisonville, a Christmas dinner donated by Kroger of Powderly, as well as gifts to 44 children. Children were also given small dental care kits with supplies donated by the Dollar General of Princeton and Dr. Gamble at the Crofton Dental Center.

This year participating families were asked for their children’s clothing sizes and interests so troopers and other Post 2 employees could shop for their presents. The families were then scheduled a time to arrive at KSP Post 2 and remain in their vehicle. Troopers then loaded vehicles with pizza, Christmas dinners, and gifts. Santa Claus was also at the scene handing children stockings filled with goodies. Families who were not able to attend had gifts delivered to their homes. These gifts included items such as coats, pants, shirts, socks, undergarments, and toys.

The Kentucky State Police would like to thank the following donors for making this year’s program such a success:  Spearhead Inc.; Walmart of Princeton; Princeton Elks 1115; Clay’s Trucking; Jones Bros; Al E Orton Lodge No 628 F and A M; Jeff Lear Trucking, LLC; Tucker Funeral Home; Betty C.
