Kentucky man found guilty of killing, dismembering woman

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — A Kentucky man has been convicted of killing and dismembering a woman nearly two years ago.

News outlets report a Fayette County jury found 60-year-old Paris R. Charles guilty Wednesday of murder and abuse of a corpse charges in 50-year-old Goldia Massey’s death.

Massey’s son reported her missing in October 2014. Her arm was found along the Kentucky River in Henry County that month. Her torso was found along the river in Jessamine County that December.

Prosecutors said police found box cutters, saws and saw blades in Charles’ home during a search. He was arrested in February 2015.

The jury recommended a 35-year prison sentence on the murder charge, and a year in jail and $500 fine for the abuse of a corpse charge.

Charles’ sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 8.
