Jobless Rates Fell Between August 2015 and August 2016 in Union and Henderson Counties

Unemployment rates fell in 82 Kentucky counties, including Union and Henderson, between August 2015 and August 2016, rose in 36 counties and stayed the same in two counties, according to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training.

In Union County, the jobless rate in August 2016 fell to 6.4 percent, compared to 6.6 percent in August 2015.

In Henderson County, the unemployment rate was 4.5 percent in August 2016, a slight drop from 4.6 percent in August 2015.

Crittenden and Webster Counties were among the 36 counties where jobless rates rose.

In Crittenden County, the August 2016 unemployment rate was 5.2 percent, up from 5.0 percent in August 2015.

In Webster County, the August 2016 jobless rate rose to 5.5 percent, compared to 4.8 percent in August 2015.

Woodford County continued to record the lowest jobless rate in the state at 3 percent, while Magoffin County continued to record the highest unemployment rate at 16.2 percent.

Unemployment statistics are based on estimates and are compiled to measure trends rather than actually count people working. They do not include unemployed Kentuckians who have not looked for employment within the past four weeks.
