James R. “Babe” Hopgood age 97 of Owensboro, KY formerly of Morganfield, KY died Saturday 2/2/2019 at Hospice Heartford House in Owensboro, KY. He was a member of Morganfield First Baptist Church & American Legion Post 48 and AT&T Pioneers. He retired with 40 years of service with AT&T as a service tech. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking and making wine, He played basketball at Georgetown College and served in United States Navy.
He is preceded in death by his parents Claude & Hattie Hopgood, his wife Jodie Hopgood a granddaughter Jenny Duke. Brothers C.E., Thomas, Dan, Jack and sisters Dorothy, Billie Carl, Irene, Margie, & Lucille.

Funeral service will be 1PM on Monday 2/4/2019 at Whitsell Funeral Home In Morganfield, KY. Rev. Tim Leadingham will officiate. Visitation will be Monday 2/4/19 from 10AM until service time. Burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield, KY. Memorial contributions can be made to Western Kentucky Hospice.
