I-24 Exit 25 Eastbound Ramp to Southbound Purchase Pkwy to Close THURSDAY, Oct 20

KYTC NEWS RELEASE

A contractor for The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans a temporary closure of the Interstate 24 Exit 25 EASTBOUND RAMP to the Purchase Parkway SOUTHBOUND LANES on Thursday, October 20, 2016.

Starting at 8 a.m., CDT, the contractor will close the EASTBOUND I-24 RAMP to the Purchase Parkway SOUTHBOUND lanes to allow paving along the Parkway as part of ongoing upgrades to the Exit 25 Interchange at Calvert City.

Message boards will direct eastbound I-24 traffic seeking to travel southbound on the Purchase Parkway to detour via Exit 27 to US 62 eastbound, then take the parkway southbound from Calvert City. This ramp closure and detour are expected to be in place for about 5 or 6 hours.

This work zone along I-24 in Marshall County between the 25 and 27 mile marker is to allow the I-24/Purchase Parkway Exit 25 Interchange to be upgraded so I-69 can be extended southward along the parkway in the future. This work zone includes a 55 mile per hour speed limit with an enhanced enforcement presence and double fines for citations.

As a reminder, both eastbound and westbound traffic are running on a diversion through this work zone between I-24 Exit 25 and Exit 27. This construction corridor has a high level of ongoing construction activity. Appropriate caution is required.

Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers is the prime contractor on the $37.8 million interchange reconstruction project. The new I-24/I-69 interchange at Calvert City has a target completion date of July 1, 2018.

All work schedules are subject to change due to weather, emergencies, and other factors.
