HPD officer among law enforcement executives who recently graduated from DOCJT’S CJED Program

A local policeman was among twenty-one law enforcement executives from agencies across the Commonwealth who graduated Friday from the Criminal Justice Executive Development program, an advanced leadership course designed for supervisors at the Kentucky’s small-and medium-size agencies.

Lt. Jermaine Poynter of the Henderson Police Department was among the 21 graduates that completed a five-week program that focuses on identifying, analyzing and solving problems as well as leadership, personnel administration, operations, fiscal management, executive and environmental relationships.

State officials say the purpose of the course is to provide students with the academic background, leadership skills and management techniques required for the future. Each session enhances leadership abilities and encourages the development of visionary thinkers.

Students attended the courses for one week each month for five months at the Department of Criminal Justice Training located on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University.
