Hopkinsville woman injured in single-vehicle wreck on I-24

NEWS RELEASE

Oak Grove, KY (Christian County) – The Kentucky State Police investigated a single vehicle injury collision that occurred on I-24 at the ninety-one mile marker.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Lexi Hedden, Hopkinsville, was operating a 2005 Ford Ranger pickup westbound on I-24, approximately two miles east of Oak Grove.  Miles Young, Hopkinsville, was a passenger in the vehicle.

According to Hedden, she was attempting to pass other motorists in the left lane of travel when the driver side of her vehicle side swiped the concrete bridge wall on the left side of the roadway. Hedden then overcorrected and traveled across both westbound lanes before striking the guardrail, which caused the vehicle to become airborne and start to flip. The truck continued down the earth embankment before coming to rest.

Hedden was treated at the scene by Christian County EMS and transported by ambulance to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center.  Young was treated by Air Evac Lifeteam and flown to Skyline Medical Center, Nashville, TN.  Hedden and Young were both wearing seatbelts.

Trooper Sean Wint investigated the collision and was assisted by the Hopkinsville/Christian County EMS, Air Evac Lifeteam, Christian County
