Henderson woman charged with assaulting police officer and other offenses

A Henderson woman is behind bars charged with assaulting a police officer, disorderly conduct and alcohol intoxication in a public place.

Henderson Police responded to 840 North Adams Street around 8:10 p.m. Friday for a report of an intoxicated female in the wrong apartment. Police say they found 51 year old Kimberly Bellew outside the apartment unsteady on her feet, unable to walk without assistance and smelling of alcoholic beverages. They indicate Bellew was taken into custody and taken to Methodist Hospital to be medically cleared.

While at the hospital, police report Bellew tried to kick an EMT worker as he walked by her in the hallway. While police tried to restrain her, they say she kicked an officer in the chest and another officer in the face while screaming, yelling, and causing a disturbance in the emergency room.

According to police, Bellew was medically cleared and lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center.
