Henderson man injured after jumping off bridge

A Henderson man is recovering from injuries after he jumped off of the US 41 Twin Bridges.

Around 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, Henderson County Sheriff’s Deputy Stefon Douglas tells WMSK News deputies responded to the Northbound Bridge in reference to a black car that had stopped and initiated its hazard lights. Upon arriving, he says a male subject, identified as 34 year old Charles Sullivan, exited the vehicle and stepped onto the ledge of the bridge and then jumped into the Ohio River.

According to Deputy Douglas, deputies observed Sullivan swimming about ¼ mile from the location where he jumped into the river under the southbound bridge. He says they kept a visual on the man until the Evansville Marine Service picked him up with a safety floatation device and brought him onto their tugboat and safely back to the loading dock.
Deputy Douglas indicates Sullivan was injured from the jump and was transported by ambulance to Henderson Methodist Hospital.

Authorities are continuing their investigation with the 34 year old man.
