Henderson man charged with burglary

A Henderson man who allegedly told police he was just playing Pokemon was arrested Sunday night and charged with second degree burglary.

Henderson Police responded to a burglary call at an apartment at 41 South Alves Street around 10:10 p.m. Sunday where they say the resident, Robert Carman, stated that when he returned home he saw a white male, later identified as 35 year old Shawn Slayton, running out of his apartment. Carman reportedly chased Slayton who ran into 601 Washington Street and locked the door behind him. Police indicate the door to Carman’s residence was damaged and money was missing from his apartment.

When officers went to Slayton’s apartment, police say he tried to climb out of a window but was apprehended.

According to the report, Slayton told officers he was just playing Pokemon at a nearby church when two men began chasing him.

Slayton was lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center.
