Henderson man arrested in connection with December Downtown Motel shooting

A Henderson man has been arrested for assault in connection with a shooting that occurred at the Downtown Motel in late December.

Henderson Police officers responded to the Downtown Motel on North Green Street on Dec. 28th in reference to a shooting.

Officers found one person who had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital for his injuries which did not appear to be life threatening.

Detectives responded to the scene and conducted an investigation leading to the identification of the suspect. On Dec. 30, an arrest warrant was issued for Menelik H. Brank, 46, of Henderson, for assault first degree assault.

On Monday, Brank was arrested on a first-degree assault charge in connection with the shooting. He was arrested in Clarksville, Tenn. with the assistance of the US Marshals Service and the Clarksville Police Department.

Brank is being held at the Montgomery County Tennessee Detention Center until he can be extradited back to Henderson.
