Henderson Community College to Host News Conference

Henderson, KY –Henderson Community College, Kentucky Skills U and Audubon Kids Zone will host a joint news conference on April 8th at 6:00 PM at Audubon Kids Zone. This press conference will discuss a variety of topics, including GED Plus, the partnership between Kentucky Skills U and Audubon Kids Zone, and more.
GED Plus, a new program allowing Kentucky adults to earn a GED and a college credential at the same time, is an innovative way to help students earn a tuition free certificate through co-enrollment in the Skills U GED program and short-term Henderson Community College courses. In four months or less, adults have the opportunity to earn their GED plus a college certificate that will prepare them for workforce opportunities at a faster rate.
Through financial assistance from Kentucky’s Work Ready Scholarship, GED Plus students can earn a college credential in one of the following careers at no cost:
• Nurse Aide
• Phlebotomist
• Welder
• Computer Technologist
GED Plus is open to Kentuckians who have not earned a high school diploma or GED. Those who have been out of school for a while sometimes have anxiety about college. GED Plus eliminates that concern because students receive one-on-one assistance from instructors and success coaches.
To make it even easier for those who would like to participate in this program and others, Kentucky Skills U and Audubon Kids Zone are partnering to provide services at Audubon Kids Zone. Other services provided will include: Earn GED diploma, prepare for college/training, and more.
The news conference discussing this information and more will be held on Monday, April 8th at 6:00 PM at Audubon Kids Zone. Audubon Kids Zone is located at 1325 Powell Street in Henderson, KY.
