Corydon, KY (WMSK) – Authorities say a homeless woman dropped off at a church in Corydon Sunday was arrested and charged for possessing meth and other offenses.
According to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a welfare check of a female, later identified as 27 year old April Rice, sitting on the steps of Corydon Missionary Baptist Church on US 60 West in Corydon. Deputies reported when they arrived they found Rice with her belongings and when questioned by authorities she stated she was homeless and was dropped off at the church from Union County.
Authorities say Rice had slurred speech and her movement led them to suspect she was using drugs. While speaking to her, deputies say the woman stated she was in possession of brass knuckles. During a search, a meth pipe with residue was found as well as the brass knuckles concealed in her purse.
Rice was taken into custody and lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center for possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and public intoxication excluding alcohol.
