HCSO: Morganfield man arrested on Federal Drug Warrant

Authorities say a Morganfield man has been arrested on a Federal Drug Warrant.

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office released the report late Monday night that says a deputy received an alert from his License Plate Reader mounted in his police cruiser when he passed a Camaro late Friday night that was registered to 45 year old Sergio Lopez-Alcaraz of Morganfield. Authorities say a check of the Morganfield man’s personal and vehicle information came back that he was wanted on Federal drug charges. During the investigation on Dixon Street, authorities say information led them to the area of Arbor Drive and Kresge Drive.

Detectives reportedly set up surveillance in the area around 10:00 p.m. when they observed two male subjects leave the Arbor Drive residence and get into a Porsche. Sheriff’s deputies reportedly blocked the vehicle at the intersection of Kresege and South Green Street where Lopez-Alcaraz was stopped and arrested without incident. He was later transferred and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.

Lopez-Alcaraz was lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center under no bond on charges of Fugitive of Justice – Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute 50 grams or more of Methamphetamine.

The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office indicates additional charges may be forthcoming as the 45 year old Morganfield man has active warrants on Cocaine possession out of Washington State.
