HCSO: Foot pursuit leads to arrest of Breckinridge Co. man on warrants and fleeing from police

Authorities in Henderson say a Breckinridge County man was arrested Monday night after he fled from deputies attempting to serve warrants on the 37 year old man.

Deputies from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office report they were attempting serve warrants in the 100 block of Rankin Street around 8:00 p.m. Monday when they were walking toward a residence and a male subject darted out the back door and refused to stop after deputies orders. Authorities say deputies began a foot pursuit with the subject later identified as Melvin Emery, of Hardinsburg, KY, who ran through alleys and resident’s backyards. The foot pursuit lasted for approximately one-half a mile until Emery was apprehended by deputies at the intersection of Clay Street and Lett Court.

Emery was lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center with no bond for charges of second degree fleeing and evading police on foot, a Henderson County warrant for arrest for fourth degree assault causing minor injury, a Grayson County warrant for non-support, and a Breckinridge County warrant for theft by deception-including cold checks under $500.
