NEWS RELEASE

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 12, 2016) – Gov. Matt Bevin was recently honored by the D. James Kennedy Center for Christian Statesmanship, a ministry of Evangelism Explosion International, with its Distinguished Christian Statesman Award.

“My Christian faith has been the foundation for my life since I was a child,” said Gov. Bevin. “It defines my world view, directs my moral compass and guides my decision making process. I firmly believe in servant leadership, being a good steward of the public’s trust, protecting the sanctity of human life and respecting our individual liberties. I am honored to be in a position to unapologetically defend the Judeo-Christian principles that are supported by the voters of Kentucky.”

The award was given at a banquet on Friday, Sept. 9 at the Washington Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington D.C.

“Gov. Bevin is a diligent servant leader who takes the responsibilities of public office with the utmost seriousness and brings an unashamedly Christian worldview to the task,” said Hon. John Hostettler, Director of the Center for Christian Statesmanship, which serves legislators, staffers, and interns on Capitol Hill.  “We’re thrilled to recognize him as a Christian statesman and leader.”

The Distinguished Christian Statesman Award, given annually since 1996, seeks to honor individuals who combine excellence in public service with character and faith in God.
