GED Graduation Ceremony Set for June 20

HENDERSON, Ky. – Henderson Community College and the West Kentucky Educational Cooperative will celebrate their recent General Education Diploma graduates at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, in the Preston Arts Center on the campus of HCC. Approximately 50 graduates from Henderson and Union counties will be recognized during the ceremony.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Derrick Ramsey, special assistant to the president for strategic partnerships with the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, who will share his personal experience with GEDs. Ramsey is also well known for playing football at the University of Kentucky and then turning pro in the NFL, where he played from 1978-1987.

“We are excited to recognize the accomplishments of our recent GED graduates,” said HCC Director of Adult Education Pam Buchanan. “The graduates have each overcome their own unique set of obstacles to reach this educational milestone and are very deserving of this special recognition.”

The event is open to the public. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and light refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
