LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Funeral arrangements have been set for a Louisville Metro police officer killed when a semitruck hit her cruiser during a traffic stop.
The Courier Journal reports the funeral for Detective Deidre “Dee Dee” Mengedoht is set for Monday morning at Southeast Christian Church.
The truck was driven by city employee Roger Burdette, who pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of murder and driving under the influence. An arrest report says he admitted to taking multiple prescription drugs and “made no attempt to avoid collision with (the) police vehicle.”
The 32-year-old Mengedoht was with the department for more than seven years. Police Chief Steve Conrad said she has a young son.
Conrad said she “gave her life serving the community, which is something she loved to do.”
