Freeman and 5 other individuals indicted by Union County Grand Jury

A Morganfield man, charged with murder in connection to the death of a local teen, and five other individuals were indicted Tuesday by the Union County Grand Jury.

During the March Session, the grand jury indicted 22 year old Steven Freeman Jr., of Morganfield, for Murder, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs Aggravating Circumstances, and Operating on a Suspended/Revoked Operator’s License.

The charges against Freeman stem from the night of February 10, 2016 when state police say Freeman was driving a vehicle and hit 17 year old Damon Collins, of Morganfield, while riding a bicycle on Highway 2091 in the Whispering Meadows area. Collins was airlifted to an Evansville hospital where he died from his injuries.

Freeman was arrested by the Union County Sheriff’s Office shortly after the accident and lodged in the Union County Jail where he remains under a 500-thousand dollar bond.

The Union County Grand Jury also indicted the following individuals:

-Vernon A. Brooks and Belinda H. Hale for Theft by Unlawful Taking All Others $500.00 or More but under $10,000.00.

-Antonio D. McGuire for Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (> or = 2GMS Methamphetamine), Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree 2nd Offense (Methamphetamine), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and First Degree Persistent Felony Offender.

-Marty Lynn Todd for Theft by Deception-Include Cold Checks under $10,000.00, and Criminal Mischief 1st Degree.

-Brian Keith Webb for Sex Offender IM/Chat/Social Network Use and Provide False Statement/Mislead Incomplete Information for Sex Offender Registration.
