Former Owensboro Public Schools Superintendent arrested on charges related to the sexual solicitation of minors

A former Owensboro Public Schools Superintendent has been arrested on charges related to the sexual solicitation of minors.

Kentucky State Police detectives arrested Dr. Matthew D. Constant, 51, of Owensboro at around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

He was charged with procuring or promoting, the use of a minor (12 years old or older) and tampering with physical evidence. KSP detectives began an investigation in late May after allegations were made of Constant being involved in a relationship with a student of unknown age.

The investigation resulted in search warrants of Constant’s electronic devices to examine the contents.

Constant is lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center in Owensboro. He is being held on a $35,000 bond.

He began his education career at Apollo High School. He has been an administrator with Owensboro Public schools since 2011.

The Owensboro Public Schools Board of Education unanimously voted to suspend Constant without pay and terminating his contract. News outlets reported at the time that the board was informed by the police that Constant had engaged in a relationship with an adult student from another district.
