An Evansville teacher has been arrested on a child seduction charge.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office reports 27 year old David Robert Burant, of Evansville, IN, was taken into custody around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday after an investigation began on July 28, 2016 when the parent of a 14 year old girl reported observing inappropriate text messages on his daughter’s cell phone. Authorities say the phone was examined and numerous instances of sexually explicit material were found that had originated from Burant, a teacher at Evansville Lutheran School.

According to police, the texts began in May 2016 and escalated into an exchange of graphic and sexual depictions of both Burant and the victim. They say investigators interviewed Burant on August 3, 2016 and he implicated himself.

Burant is lodged in the Vanderburgh County Jail with no bond.
