Evansville Probationary Police Officer Relieved of Duty Following Weekend DWI Arrest

Authorities say a probationary police officer has been relieved of duty following his weekend arrest for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. According to Evansville Police, Probationary Police Officer Cory Little was arrested in Posey County Sunday morning after he was involved in a wreck.

According to the arrest affidavit, police say emergency personnel responded to the wreck in the 47-hundred block of St. Wendel Cynthiana Road around 4:45 a.m. Sunday where Little went off the roadway and crashed into a garage, damaging the building and a vehicle parked inside.

After being treated by paramedics at the scene, police say Little failed a series of field sobriety tests and blew a .09% on a breathalyzer test.

Police indicate Little joined the Evansville Police Department on January 25, 2016 and was in the field training phase of his employment. They say he will remain on paid leave pending the outcome of his disciplinary hearing with the Police Merit commission. At this time, police say a date has not been set for the hearing.

Authorities report the affidavit will be reviewed by the Posey County Prosecutor’s Office, and they will decide any formal charges will be sought against Little.
