Evansville man arrested for leaving the scene of a property damage accident

NEWS RELEASE

On September 16, 2016, at 7:53 p.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a report of a hit and run accident in the 2800 block of West State Road 64.  Authorities sayt he caller advised that their White 2015 four door Toyota passenger car had been struck by another vehicle and that it had continued eastbound on State Road 64.  A witness to the accident followed the suspect vehicle, a Green 2001 Chevy Tahoe from the scene until Deputies Ben Kiesel and Jason Marceaux were able to stop the vehicle.

During a roadside investigation, Deputy Kiesel identified the driver of the Tahoe as 26 year old Marquelle Smith of Evansville.  Deputies on scene collected information and evidence from both vehicles before transporting Mr. Smith to the Gibson County Jail.  At the Gibson County Jail Mr. Smith was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident.  He remains in custody on a $550 bond.
