EPD: Robbery Suspect Arrested

On Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at approximately 11:00 p.m. Evansville Police say gunshots were reported at 1223 North Second Avenue. A juvenile resident of that address reportedly stated that a subject that had robbed him earlier in the month was the same person that had just entered his home carrying a handgun and demanded money.

According to authorities, the juvenile stated that he did not have any money and the subject fired a gunshot at him. The juvenile returned fire and the suspect fled the house and believed that he got into a black Chrysler 200.

The juvenile reportedly told officers that he believed the robbery suspect was Kyndrick Hancock, who was wearing white latex gloves and was holding a black and silver handgun.

Police say a Chrysler matching the description provided by the juvenile was stopped at Washington and Kentucky and Hancock was driving the vehicle. Officers indicate a bullet fragment was found on the ground outside of the vehicle where Hancock exited.

Another occupant of the car, Javonte White, reportedly stated that he and a person unknown to him were riding with Hancock when he parked at Florida and Second Avenue and told them that he would be right back. Authorities say shortly after that, gunshots were heard and Hancock ran past the vehicle.

White and the unknown subject then drove off looking for Hancock and located him a few blocks away.

According to EPD, a search of the Chrysler resulted in the recovery of a black and silver handgun and a box of white, latex gloves.

Hancock was charged with Burglary and Robbery. He is being held in the VCCC.

The investigation is ongoing and updates will be sent as they are developed. If anyone has knowledge about this crime or may know who were involved with it are asked to call the Evansville Police Department at 436-7979 or the WeTip line at 1-800-78-CRIME.
