Evansville Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon.
Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Edgar St. at just after 4 p.m. Tuesday in reference to an assault in progress run.
The 911 caller reported that her boyfriend had been pepper sprayed at this location. Additional information was provided saying that someone had been stabbed or shot.
Officers arrived and located a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The man was transported to a local hospital where he did not survive his injuries.
Officers on scene located the man who shot the victim. He was detained and transported
to EPD Headquarters for questioning.
Detectives learned the victim was shot after he pepper sprayed the man who shot him. The man who shot the victim remained on scene until officers arrived.
