Ellis Park cancels Friday’s racing because of extreme heat advisory

Post-race band also canceled but track open for simulcasting, gaming. No decision has been made on Saturday’s live racing card
HENDERSON, Ky. (Thursday, July 18, 2019) — Ellis Park has canceled
racing for Friday’s card out of precaution given the forecast for extreme heat in the Tri-State area. The after-racing performance by the band
Tailgate Revival also has been canceled. Simulcast wagering on other
tracks throughout the country and Ellis Park’s Historical Horse Racing
gaming operation will be held as scheduled. Those coming to the track
on Friday will get free simulcast programs to bet on other tracks.

Track officials stress this is for Friday only and no decision has been
made for Saturday or Sunday. Ellis Park General Manager Jeff Hall said
they made the decision early because of horses shipping in from throughout the region, as well as getting the word out to patrons.

Friday’s 10 a.m. Central Time news conference with the track’s new
owners, Ellis Entertainment LLC, will proceed as scheduled.
