Elkton Man Arrested for Trafficking Methamphetamine

Elkton, KY (Todd County) – On October 15, 2016, at 10:28 P.M., Trooper Jonathan Johnson conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle driving erratically. During contact with the operator, Trooper Johnson smelled the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver, David Stokes of Elkton, submitted to field sobriety tests and was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence. A search of Mr. Stokes revealed marijuana and paraphernalia used to ingest methamphetamines. A further search of the vehicle located a container with several bags of suspected methamphetamines. Mr. Stokes was lodged in the Todd County Jail on the following charges:
1) Careless driving
2) Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence
3) Possession of Marijuana
4) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
5) Trafficking a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offence – Methamphetamines
