Eddie Pfingston was a man of “many” words and good deeds throughout his years living in Union County. At 83 years old, he was a man of many stories and his hobby was to check on people. He never met a stranger and was more than willing to share a word or two about life in Union County. He was devoted to his community, his wife, and his daughter. It takes a special individual to be involved in his community for the length of time he was active in organizations around town. One he was recognized for this past year was over 40 years in the Kiwanis.
Eddie enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games whether he was in the stands or watching them on television. He enjoyed his “barn therapy” and always had a horse to call his own. No matter where you went, with the last name of Pfingston, you were asked if you were related to “Eddie”. This was definitely a positive ask. We have been hearing stories shared from many of his caretakers in the last couple of years of him being their school teacher. A favorite extra credit question on science tests was for bonus points: “can you spell his name correctly?”
He did not want a long obituary, he only wanted to help people and how he filled in his “dash” of life was by being a kind gentleman.
Special thanks to the staffs at Colonial Assisted Living in Henderson and those from Redbanks Colonial in Sebree who were there when he passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 4:56 PM. These facilities made his final years enjoyable. He was honored to be a member of Henshaw Christian Church and all they did for him and his family throughout the years of his membership.
