FRANKLIN, Ky. (AP) — A Simpson County deputy serving a warrant for a domestic violence assault in Franklin has been shot and wounded.
Kentucky State Police Trooper B.J. Eaton says the suspect fired on the deputy, striking him. The deputy was able to return fire and also struck the suspect.
The suspect fled but was quickly apprehended, and both he and the deputy were hospitalized.
Trooper Jeff Gregory said the shooting occurred at about 3:15 p.m. The deputy was taken to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, where he was in stable condition.
The suspect was also in stable condition at Franklin Medical Center.
State police are continuing to investigate. They have not yet released the names of the deputy or the suspect.
