DCSO: Owensboro couple charged for burglarizing a church

An Owensboro couple has been charged for burglarizing a church.

Around 6:00 Tuesday morning, Daviess County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 33-hundred block of Highway 144 in reference to a disturbance where a witness stated a male and female were involved in a physical altercation in the rear parking lot of the Church of Christ.

Upon arrival, deputies reportedly found 39 year old Bengy W. Key in front of the church with minor injuries to the left side of his face and hands. According to the release, Key advised deputies that his fiancé, 31 year old Trisha Midkiff, had left prior to the deputy’s arrival.

During an investigation, the sheriff’s department indicates deputies discovered that Key and Midkiff had forced entry into the Church of Christ and began stealing property including electronics, bibles and household items. Deputies say they also discovered the couple got into a physical altercation over loading stolen items into their vehicle, which caused an eyewitness to the assault call 911.

Authorities say Midkiff was located, along with her vehicle containing all the stolen items from the church, which were recovered by deputies.

Key and Midkiff were taken into custody and charged with third degree burglary. Key was also charged with fourth degree domestic assault. Both subjects were lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center.
