Criminal Abuse Case Against Two Sturgis Women Will be Presented to Grand Jury

41 year old Marsha Gray and 24 year old Suzanna Gray, both of Sturgis, appeared in Union County District Court Thursday for a preliminary hearing where the judge found enough evidence for the criminal abuse case to be bound over to the Union County Grand Jury, according to court records.

The charges stem from a video that surfaced last month and was sent to WMSK News and the Union County Sheriff’s Office showing the alleged abuse of an 11 year old girl by the two women. According to a release from Union County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Thomas, Social Services and deputies responded to the residence of 41 year old Marsha A. Gray of Sturgis, on July 20, 2016. He told WMSK News based on information gathered during the investigation and with the assistance from the County Attorney’s Office the women were arrested and charged with first degree Criminal Abuse child victim under 12 years of age.

Deputy Thomas also said the child was removed from the home and the women were arrested and lodged in the Union County Detention Center. Since their arrest, both women have bonded out of the local jail.

The criminal abuse case against the women will be heard by the grand jury on September 6, 2016.
